British Airways Extends Heathrow Flights Suspension

LONDON (Reuters) - British Airways said on Friday it was canceling flights using London's Heathrow airport until at least 1900 GMT, extending a previous suspension by two hours as it continues to urge striking staff to return to work.þþA spokeswoman said Europe's No.3 airline had received a letter from the Transport & General Workers Union saying it did not support an unofficial strike by some BA workers in support of sacked staff at a catering supplier.þþHowever, she said the majority of striking BA workers had not returned to work.þþThe spokeswoman said BA had now canceled around 535 of Friday's flights, on top of the 121 canceled on Thursday when the strike action started.þþ
