DETROIT (AP) — The automobile parts supplier Delphi Corporation announced Friday that it had reached an agreement with its second-largest union and General Motors to offer buyouts to hourly workers in a deal similar to an earlier one with the United Auto Workers.þþThe agreements with the International Union of Electronic Workers-Communications Workers of America and with G.M., Delphi's former parent and its largest customer, were meant to help Delphi in its effort to get out of bankruptcy; it filed for protection in October.þþÿWe continue to be focused on the transformation of Delphi, and this attrition plan provides a stronger framework to position our successful emergence from Chapter 11,ÿ Delphi's president, Rodney O'Neal, said in a statement. ÿThis plan further enables an effective transformation of our U.S. manufacturing and support operations.ÿþþG.M. has agreed to provide financial support under the proposed plan, which is subject to bankruptcy court approval, Delphi said.þþ
