School bus drivers ratified a new contract yesterday, a union spokesman said. The union, Local 1181 of the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents 8,400 drivers, escorts and mechanics in New York and parts of Westchester County, overwhelmingly approved the three-year contract, said Steve Mangione, the union spokesman. The agreement, tentatively reached on July 5, calls for raises totaling 10.5 percent, Mr. Mangione said. Members will not pay a health premium and will retain the same health benefits, he said.
