PALATINE -- With a federal mediator present, negotiations continued Monday evening between teachers union representatives and a Palatine-based school district.þþRepresentatives of teachers in Community Consolidated School District 15 decided last week to call for a strike vote in their contract dispute with the administration.þþTheir decision came in response to a school board decision to postpone annual salary adjustments for the district's 772 teachers and certified staff members.þþMembers of the union, the Classroom Teachers Council, called the board's decision to freeze salaries a violation of state labor law and said they would file an unfair labor practice complaint, according to the union's Web site.þþNo date has been set for the strike vote. The teachers' contract expired Aug. 31. þ
