Union Criticizes Correction Training

  • 09-25-2006
Officials with Local 387 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees have accused the State Department of Correction of promoting a low-quality training program for correction officers. The union officials also said the department had not accurately reported correction officers’ training hours and that many were not getting adequate training. In a letter sent last week to Correction Commissioner Theresa Lantz, the leaders of the local said their concerns were shared by two other union locals that represent correction workers, The Hartford Courant reported. A spokesman for the department said it was looking into the union’s assertions.þþ
