  • 11-13-2012
Pilots at United Continental Holdings, parent of United Airlines, will vote on a new contract, the Air Line Pilots Association announced late Monday.þþThe negotiating body of the union voted Monday to accept a tentative agreement and forward it to members for a vote.þþÿWith this step, we are closer to a new contract that will provide gains in compensation, work rules, job protections, and retirement and benefits for our pilots and their families,ÿ the union said in a statement issued jointly by Capt. Jay Heppner, chairman of the United Master Executive Council and Capt. Jay Pierce, chairman of the Continental Master Executive Council.þþÿWe will finally begin to see the benefits of the merger that were promised to us, and an end to the concessionary and bankruptcy-era contracts we have lived and worked under for more than a decade.ÿþþIf pilots approve the contract, it will mark one of the very last steps in integrating United and Continental, which officially merged in 2010.þþIntegrating seniority lists for the two pilot groups will come after ratification.
