MARIN COUNTY, CA – The Marin Association of Public Employees, the county's largest employee union, plans to strike from July 1 to July 3, Marin County officials said.þþThe county and the 1,300-member union failed to reach an agreement during mediation Monday. The strike is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. July 1 and end at 10 p.m. July 3, according to union officials.þþCounty officials said the strike will not affect the hours of or the services at the Marin County Fair from June 30 to July 4 at the fairgrounds in San Rafael.þþStaff from the Marin County Sheriff's Office and Marin County Fire Department and other emergency personnel such as 911 dispatchers and staff from the 24-hour crisis stabilization unit will not participate in the strike. County officials said they are prepared to address public works emergencies if they arise.þþThe Marin Association of Public Employees plans to demonstrate at 10 a.m. Saturday at the fair. Members also plan to start picketing at the fair at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.þþThe union is also urging its members to picket at their regular place of work on July 2 and 3.
