LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - Dozens of Four Roses union workers went on strike Friday afternoon after a 100 percent vote authorizing the work stoppage Thursday.þþOn strike are approximately 53 union workers at the Lawrenceburg distillery and at the company's warehouse and bottling facility in Bullitt County.þþThe three unions involved in the strike are UFCW Local 10D, UFCW Local 23D and NCFO 320.þþThe strike comes after the union leaders said negotiations failed between the workers and Four Roses.þþJeff Royalty, president of UFCW Local 10D, said they take issue with the company's desire to switch to a two-tier system that would affect new hires.þþÿIt creates animosity and it's like a cancer. It will eat away at the union. It will dissolve the family atmosphere,ÿ Royalty said. ÿThese people behind me, they're not just co-workers, they're family.ÿþþUnion members are unhappy with proposed changes to sick leave, seniority rights, and how vacation time is earned.þþFour Roses recently completed a $55 million expansion that will double capacity.þþÿThe company's booming and they're only wanting to offer us two dollars over a five-year period, and last time we got $2.50, and we feel like that's a slap in our faces,ÿ said Four Roses employee Joe Marshall.þþFour Roses declined to comment on the planned strike.þþ
