Wabtec and UE Locals 506 and 618 reached a 90-day deal during negotiations Wednesday that will allow union employees at the Lawrence Park plant to return to work Monday.þþThe agreement will allow the parties to continue negotiations to reach a long-term collective bargaining agreement with the assistance of federal mediators.þþThe company and unions agreed to:þþMaintain wage rates for existing employees.þMaintain Wabtec's competitive benefits package.þVoluntary scheduled overtime with the company's ability to use non-bargaining unit Wabtec employees to meet customer commitments.þ90-day moratorium on hiring new bargaining unit employees.þNo plant closure or permanent layoffs during the term of the agreement.þGrievance procedure with binding arbitration.þNo strikes or lockouts.þIn a joint statement, Wabtec and the unions said they are optimistic an agreement can be reached over the next 90 days to ÿposition the Erie facility for future growth, stability and success.ÿþþWorkers at the Lawrence Park plant have been on strike since Feb. 26, the day after the merger between Wabtec and GE Transportation closed.
