Macy’s workers in San Francisco might walk off the job on the biggest shopping day of the year. The president of UFCW Local 5 John Nunes said 90% of Macy’s workers in the city authorized a strike, but it’s up to the union to determine the date. If a Black Friday strike does happen, around 650 Macy’s employees will walk off the job over the lack of livable wages. Other workers may join in a sympathy strike as well. Even with the strike threat looming, Macy’s management says the store on Union Square will be open on Black Friday.
