Union Workers at Toledo Coca-Cola Go On Strike

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Teamsters Local 20 and Coca-Cola management have been meeting at the bargaining table for months, trying to come to an agreement on a new contract.þþNow without a new contract and talks reportedly stalled between the two sides, union employees at the Toledo plant are on strike until a new deal is made. The union represents 90 workers.þþTeamsters Local 20 members on the picket line said Monday morning the company isn’t being fair to members who have been considered essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The issues at stake are the amount of money the company wants workers to pay for healthcare coverage and their hourly rate of pay.þþMembers of the union represented by Teamsters Local 20 gathered Sunday at the union hall for a vote. Multiple sources tell 13abc it was a contract ratification vote. According to Teamsters Local 20 documents, the union voted to authorize a strike back on October 18.þþThere is no date set for the two sides to return to the bargaining table.þþCopyright 2020 WTVG.
