CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Union workers at multiple Coca-Cola Consolidated locations throughout West Virginia went on strike Tuesday morning, officials said.þþThe strike includes Coca-Cola workers in Charleston, Logan, Bluefield, Parkersburg and Clarksburg, according to Teamster Local 175 President Ken Hall. The strike began about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.þþDonnie Perdue, a business agent for Teamster Local 175, said about 200 workers are on strike across the state.þþThe union members authorized the strike in late April, but continued to work during contract negotiations.þþHall said the strike is over unsettled grievances and not a contract that it was recently negotiating with the company. He alleged the company has become unresponsive and said employees have had enough. Perdue said the one grievance is about supervisors working, the other is the mechanics of work being sent out.þþIn a statement to Eyewitness News, Coca-Cola said it was disappointed by the strike, but would work to find a resolution.þþ“We’re disappointed the union decided to take our teammates out on strike but remain committed to working with them on an equitable resolution,” the statement said. “We have a solid plan in place to continue serving our customers.”
