Union Workers on Strike Against Amcor in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa —þMore than 100 union members are on strike against Amcor in Des Moines. The union members are calling for better wages and benefits from the packaging manufacturer.þþTeamsters Local 238 members went on strike Saturday, saying their payment has not kept pace with the company's growth.þþThe Union says Amcor gave them a final offer to teamsters over a week ago.þþTeamsters say a strike could disrupt products like Snack Packs, Slim Jims, and Capri Suns, among others.þþLast week, Amcor told Iowa Public Radio there is a contingency plan with the work stoppage. Amcor does not expect the strike to impact grocery store shelves.þþ
