ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Members of the St. Louis Newspaper Guild voted Sunday to approve a labor contract with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.þþThe five-year package covers about 600 editorial, advertising, circulation and support workers at the newspaper.þþThe vote was 245-108. The union represents about 600 Post-Dispatch employees.þþGuild leaders gave the contract tentative approval May 24, after guild members in February rejected a proposed three-year contract, citing concerns about insurance costs and job security.þþUnder the approved plan, wages would increase 5 percent or 6 percent in the first year, depending on employees' pay classification. Annual increases would decrease each of the next four years, ending with 2.5 percent in the final year.þþWorkers would pay 15 percent of their insurance premiums in the contract's first year. Eventually, they would pay 25 percent.þþþþ
