TROY, Ohio (AP) -- Workers at an Ohio Goodrich Corp. plant that makes aircraft wheels and brakes approved a three-year contract on Tuesday, a union official said.þþUnited Auto Workers Local 128 voted 166-118 to accept the deal, union spokesman Steve Shelton said. The union represents 330 of the 700 workers at the plant in Troy, about 20 miles north of Dayton.þþThe union rejected two contract proposals last month, and notified Goodrich that it planned to terminate its old agreement. The new deal was struck after the company dropped its proposal to require mandatory overtime, Shelton said.þþThe new agreement allows the company, under certain circumstances, to implement a weekend work schedule of three 12-hour shifts. Those workers would still get paid for a 40-hour week.þþThe plant is the only supplier of wheels and brakes for the space shuttles. Its customers include Boeing Co., Lockheed-Martin Corp. and Cessna.þþGoodrich, based in Charlotte, N.C., employs more than 20,000 people at more than 100 plants worldwide.þþþþ
