Unionized Walt Disney World security guards overwhelmingly voted down a proposed five-year labor contract Thursday night, the second such rejection in two weeks.þþDisney officials and leaders of the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America Local 603 are expected to meet today to extend the current contract, which expires tonight at midnight, a company spokeswoman said.þþAfter that, ÿthey're going to regroup . . . and determine the next step,ÿ Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Polak said.þþThe guards voted down the contract 263-45, going against the advice of union leaders to accept it.þþThe union represents more than 1,000 members of Disney's security force.þþÿWe're looking forward to going back to the table and getting a deal,ÿ said Brian Gibbons, president of Local 603.þþOn Nov. 24, the security guards voted down Disney's first offer 296-26. After that vote, the company said the guards appeared to be unhappy with the raises and increases in health-care premiums it offered.þþA federal mediator was called in and a new, five-year offer emerged. Citing a gag order, neither side would discuss the new proposal.þ
