HONOLULU (AP) -- Aloha Airlines, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, has reached a new contract with its pilots, the two sides announced.þþThe airline and the Air Line Pilots Association Council 80 said Monday they agreed not to release details of the new 27-month contract, which begins Feb. 1 and runs to April 30, 2007.þþ``I applaud our pilot work force for their willingness to work with the company to improve our competitive positioning during these challenging times for our industry,'' said David Banmiller, who heads parent company Aloha Airgroup Inc.þþThe council's Capt. David Bird said: ``The Aloha pilots have the best interests of Aloha and the people of Hawaii at heart.''þþAlso on Monday, Hawaiian Airlines, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2003, announced that the mechanics and clerical units of the International Association of Machinists failed to ratify a tentative contract agreement with the airline.þþThe company said it was working with the union to negotiate revised agreements.þþThe carrier also needs to resolve contract issues with the pilots union before emerging from bankruptcy reorganization.þþþþ
