The UAL Corporation, the parent of United Airlines, has asked a federal court for another two months to file its bankruptcy reorganization plan without interference from other parties.þþIn documents filed with the court on Friday, UAL asked for an extension of the so-called exclusivity period to July 1. The current exclusivity period is due to expire April 30.þþUAL, based in Chicago, has been operating under bankruptcy court protection since December 2002. It has been given previous extensions.þþÿAn extension of the exclusive periods will enable United to continue its hard work and implement many of its restructuring initiatives,ÿ UAL said in the documents.þþUnited has been battered by soaring fuel costs, weak revenue and competition from low-cost rivals. The airline has said it needs to secure $725 million in annual labor savings to exit Chapter 11. þþAlso on Friday, the flight attendants' union threatened to terminate its collective bargaining agreement in 20 days.þþþþ
